It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Antony William “Tony” Ambrose, age 50 years of Thunder Bay, Ontario on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Antony was born on August 16, 1964 to Giuseppe and Annina Ambrose.  Antony worked as a Metal Fabricator for Bombardier for the past 16 years until his illness did not allow him to continue working.   Antony’s love of reggae, in particular Bob Marley, filled his final days with joy.  He looked forward to his yearly pilgrimages to his favorite place in the world, Jamaica.   Even his illness could not keep him away, as he made his final trip there in February.  Antony was a loving, quiet, gentle man, who never spoke ill of anyone.   We will miss his beautiful smile and loving nature.  At the end, he still smiled and laughed with us.

Willy was predeceased by his father Giuseppe Ambrose, mother Annina Ambrose, sister Lina Macandog , uncle Silvio Ambrose, and brothers-in-law Ken Ciponi, Lawrence Creed and Ken McDevitt.

Antony is survived by his sisters Rose Ciponi, Mary Creed, Fran McDevitt, Linda Ambrose, Roe (Hal) and Luisa Ambrose; brothers John (Patricia) Ambrose and Mark (Tammy) Ambrose; brother-in-law Jessie Macandog.   Antony had many nieces and nephews whom he loved.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful HAGI staff at McKellar Place who were Willy's angels and Bayshore nurse Paula Niitynen.  The family would also like to thank his friends Louie Guidolin, Tony Staine, and Fortunato Bossio for their many visits. Your friendship meant the world to Will.

A Celebration of Antony’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, a donation to HAGI would be greatly appreciated.

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
