It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur (Art) McDonald at the age of 87 on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 with family by his side.

A dear husband, father, grandpa and papa. Art was born in Port Arthur to Simon and Christina and was raised at Loon Lake. In his younger years Art worked for CP Rail as a telegraph operator, Hacio Bros as a plumber (Local 628), and later retiring from Thunder Bay Abitibi. His fondest memories were hunting, fishing, camping at Mirror Lake and travelling with his wife to various destinations. He was a gentleman of all gentlemen, and had a sense of humour like no other. His face would light up around children and there was never a dog he wouldn't spoil. His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family and friends. Art is predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Helen (Bob) Keighley, Betty (Vic) Hacio, and Joyce Nistico.

He is survived by his loving wife Jean of 62 years, daughters Sharon (John) Blaicher, Wendy (Lance) Jonson, Janice McDonald (Mark Humphrey), son Wayne (Lisa) McDonald, his 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Howard Nistico and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the Reception Hall of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
