The family of Arthur George Lawrence is sad to announce his sudden passing on April 16 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
Art was born on August 3, 1935 to the late Mary and George Lawrence. He was born in Fort William and grew up in Westfort.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Marlene (Robbins) of 57 years; two daughters Kelly Robertson (Brian) and Kim Bonekamp (Jack) of St. Georges, MB; three grandchildren Andrew Bonekamp (Nicole) of Grande Prairie, AB, Nicole Bonekamp of Winnipeg, MB and Alisia Robertson; sister Dorothy Lawrence as well as his extended family.
Art began his work career at Chapples where he met his wife Marlene. Shortly moving on to M.T.O. where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1991.
He enjoyed many things in life, pitching for the Port Arthur Red Sox and especially enjoying his 25 years of retirement doing all the things he loved.
From gardening, fishing, shooting and hunting at his much loved Ponderosa. Joining the gun club in 1972 brought many years of enjoyment and many great friends. He especially enjoyed the Tuesday and Friday coffee club where they could solve all the world’s problems.
But above all else, he adored his three grandchildren who thought the world of their Papa.
