It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Arthur John Wark, with his family by his side on Sunday, April 15th, 2018.

Art was born on April 11th, 1949 in Fort William ON. He married his beloved wife, Karen (2012) on November 7th, 1969. Together they shared 43 happy years together and raised 2 sons Bradley and Scott.

Art started his career with the Thunder Bay Fire service in 1973. Art enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career with the Fire service. Art’s profession as a Fire Fighter allowed him the opportunity to follow his true calling of helping people. Art held many positions in the fire service before his retirement as District Chief in 2008.

Art enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the family camp on Marks Lake. While at the lake, Art made everyone’s day brighter, by lending a hand with projects, heading out on the water fishing or just stopping by to say hi on one of his daily walks.

Art will be sadly missed by his loving sons Brad and Scott (Laura); grandchildren Olivia and Jackson; sisters-in-law Rae Ann Wark, Jayne Wark, Lisa Hinsberger, Eva (Al) Ridler and Lulu Hall; brothers-in-law Robert (Judy) Dickson and Denny Nummikoski and numerous nieces and nephews.

Art was predeceased by his parents James and Henrietta Joyce Wark, his wife Karen Wark (nee Dickson), and brothers Bruce and Terry Wark.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Pastor Mark Davenport. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to service time. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Art’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
