Arthur Royden Kydd (Roy), age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospice.

Roy is survived by his wife Margaret, his three daughters, Beth, Debbie (partner Deb Malazdrewicz) and Sheri (husband Sean Feser), his three step children Michael Lajoie (Annette Ward), Mark Lajoie and Andrea Lajoie (Derek Gradner). He is also survived by grandchildren Alesha, Marissa (husband Pat Nemish), Brendan and Ashlynn and also his brother Leonard.  Predeceased by his parents Betty and Roy Kydd; siblings Iris (Syd Prystay), Bobby (Rosie), Sally(Bill Miller), Rickie and Ronnie.

Roy was a great story teller, never leaving out a detail. Roy's own story is as interesting as the ones he told. Roy grew up in Westfort and always said he had a Westfort accent. He retired from C.P. Rail after many years of service and was fortunate to enjoy many years of retirement.

Roy and Margaret loved to travel and made many road trips across Canada and the States visiting family and friends along the way. He and Margaret also shared two special trips with best friends Ginger and Don, as well as a train ride through the Rockies on the Rocky Mountaineer.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed everything from golfing with Tyrone and Bobby, to curling and dart tournaments with the Landmessers, pool tournaments, hockey, coaching baseball in his younger years, while cheering on the Dodgers, and playing shuffleboard at every SuperBowl party.

Roy loved socializing with Morris and his coffee buddies, going to camp, fishing and just spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Elks, Army Navy and the Prosvita and spent many enjoyable times there.

Roy was a very kind and generous man, always the first to lend a helping hand and appoint himself as the "Foreman''. He loved animals and spending time with his many furry grandchildren.

His stories, his sense of humour, his smile and his laugh will be missed dearly, but the memories he has left will last a lifetime. He was truly one of a kind.

The family would like to thank Dr. Feldstein and the 4th floor staff at St. Joe's for being so kind and compassionate to both Margaret and Roy.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 with a come and go visitation taking place between 2:00pm and 4:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

If friends desire, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.
