It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Mummu and Aunt Aune on Sunday, December 12, 2021. She passed away at the age of 97, a longtime resident of Thunder Bay, having resided at Hogarth Riverview Manor since 2016.

Aune was born in Port Arthur on March 22, 1924. She graduated from Hillcrest High School and obtained a secretarial job at Eaton’s. She married Paul Albert Arola in June 1947. Aune’s hobbies included sewing and knitting. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren wore her many outfits. She had a passion for Jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and flowers in the summer. For many years she volunteered her secretarial skill at Christ Lutheran Church on Walkover St.

Aune will be greatly missed by her loving family, son John (Karen), daughter Aileen (Wim), Grandchildren Cathi (great grandchildren Kai and Micah), Paul (Gina) (great grandchildren Audrey, Remi and Mila). Also, her precious fur babies Ava and Heather. She will also be greatly missed by her Sister-in-law Martha Ranta and Children (Martin, Charles, Karen, Dan and families), Anita Pukila (niece), Fred Pukila (nephew) and family in Finland. Also, niece Marilyn O’Dell (Dave), niece Cheryl, and nephew David (Debbie).

Special thanks to the wonderful staff of 6 South at Hogarth for taking such good care of Mom.
