It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Barbara Ann Drndak on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 in hospice surrounded by family.

Barbara was born to Andrew and Alice Drndak on April 29, 1955 in Fort William and resided in the East End of the City most of her life. Barbara was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s R.C. Church.

She attended St. Peter’s R.C. School, F.W.C.I. and graduated with a 2-year diploma from Confederation College in Travel and Tourism Administration. Barbara cherished the ability to travel the world and through her 39 years as a full-time travel agent, she was proud of the many friendships that were formed with her valued coworkers and clients. Although her career was a highlight in her life, there was never any question that her family was most important and always number one to her.

Barbara is survived by family of “Angels”, her loving mother Alice, her 4 sisters, Debbie Burns, Susan (John) Doman, Theresa (Anthony) Widla and Donna Drew. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces who she held dear to here heart. Stephen (Laura) Burns, Sarah Burns, Richard and Andrea Doman, Jessica, Victoria, Aaron and Jordan Widla, Taylor Drew and Lisa (Jesse) Wilson. Great nephews and nieces, Andrew, Patrick and Daniel Burns and Austin and Avery Wilson. She is also survived by family members Brian Burns and Donald Drew. Barbara was predeceased by her loving father Andrew Drndak, her sister Karen Louise (in infancy) and grandparents Andrew and Johanna Drndak and Peter and Rose Miller. Barbara was gifted with these exceptional girlfriends and was so grateful for all their love and support, Rose, Diane, Noreen, Barbara, Debbie, Margaret, Cathy, Darlene, Marlene, Janice and the late Karen.

Barbara’s family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Faghih, Dr. Ramchandar, Dr. Simpson, Dr. Valente, Dr. Migay, Dr. Davis, Dr. Miller, and the nursing staff on the 4 North Hospice Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. You are outstanding individuals and we are grateful for all you have done for Barbara. We also want to thank Georgette Siciliano, her home care nurse whose compassion, professionalism and support meant a great deal to Barbara.

Funeral services will be held on Friday March 3rd, 2017 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in St. Peter’s Church celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 1 hour prior to the service time. A private family interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations to the TBRHSC Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
