Mrs. Barbara Goch, age 94 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, on Monday, June 15, 2015.

Barbara was born in Poland and came to Canada as a young woman. She was married to John Goch, who predeceased her in 1983.

While living in the city she was a longtime member of the Church of the Transfiguration. In more recent years she attended the Church of the Holy Cross where she was also a member of St. Anne’s Society. Barbara’s family was always very important to her and she loved to cook. She was affectionately known as the Perogy Queen and was also well known for her tasty cabbage rolls.

Barbara enjoyed travelling to many places but had great memories of all of her trips to Hawaii. For a short time she was a well cared for resident of Glacier Ridge and while there enjoyed the opportunity to watch family friend Maya of the Chaban Dancers perform. Barbara is survived by her daughter Ann Anderson, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives in Toronto and Poland.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Frances Kaczmar, daughter Mary, sisters and brothers Julia, Maria, Edward, John and Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 when family and friends will gather for Liturgy in Church of the Holy Cross at 10:00am celebrated by Rev. Andrija Petresin. 

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.  Panachyda will be offered on, Wednesday evening, at 7:00pm in Church of the Holy Cross.  If friends desire, memorials to St. Joseph’s Foundation, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, the Chaban Dancers or the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Humane Society, would be appreciated.

Barbara Goch will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
