Barry William Scott
Barry William Scott, age 82 years, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, on October 15, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Barry was born December 17, 1938, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Port Arthur, to parents Keith and Helvi Scott. Barry attended Pine Street School, Central Elementary School and Port Arthur Collegiate High School. He married the love of his life, Anne (nee Bilyk) on August 18, 1962.

Barry began his career in 1958 with the City of Port Arthur. Upon amalgamation of Port Arthur and Fort William (and the takeover of Property Assessment by the Province) he became an employee at the Government of Ontario, from where he retired in 1994.

Barry enjoyed many sports. He played high school football, curling, golf and hockey – his favorite team being Detroit Red Wings – his favorite player was Gordie Howe. He was very social, loved to entertain and made sure everyone around him was enjoying themselves. He spoke to everyone whether he knew them or not.

In recent years, Barry thoroughly enjoyed hearing about and watching his grandchildren’s athletic accomplishments, providing many valuable tips and coaching opportunities to each of them. He was very proud of them and loved sharing updates with family and friends near and far.

Barry will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife Anne; son Brad Scott (Michelle); daughter Michelle Lemmetty (Tim); brother Keith Scott (Kathy); his beloved grandchildren: Sidney and Brody Scott, Matthew, Alexander and Marcus Lemmetty; nieces and nephews: Sandra Mazur and Terry Martyn (D.J. Sures, Shannon, Michael, and Graham Mazur), Dawne-Marie MacLeod and Tom Boyle (Meghan and Julie Boyle), Kristyn Scott and David Zwieg (Harrison and Bennett), and many more nieces and nephews; cousins: Marilyn McGuire (Marianne and Maureen), Helen Knudsen, Bonnie and Marshall Elliot, Ted Blundell; brother-in-law Walter Bilyk and sister-in-law Maria Bilyk.

He was predeceased by his parents Keith and Helvi Scott; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Don MacLeod; sister Sandra Elizabeth (in infancy); grandparents: Harry and Mae Scott, Jack and Ottilia Thompson; aunts and uncles: Ted and Helen Blundell, Margaret and Russ Tapp, Clarence and Queenie Scott, Paul and Stella Thompson; father and mother-in-law William and Jean Bilyk; sister and brother-in-law Olga and Mike Wiwcharyk, Irene and Frank Scali, and Mary Bilyk.
