Benedict “Benny” Patrick Matulak

Mr. Benedict “Benny” Patrick Matulak age 78 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on Friday September 2, 2016.

Born and raised in Fort William, Benny was a lifelong resident of the East End. He attended St. Peter’s and Vocational High School.

Ben enjoyed gardening and visiting the casino with friends. Benny first worked at GLFP and then Ogilvies Mill. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Peter’s Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Francois Maynard Council 15995 and the Slovak Legion.

He is survived by his sister Mary LeBlanc, niece Debbie (Jim) Bakke, Hermantown, Minnesota and numerous other relatives and good friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents John and Susanna Matulak, parents John and Anna Matulak, brothers Paul, Brother Ambrose OSB, Joseph, sister, Julie (Stan) Burzynski and brother-in-law Edmond LeBlanc. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8 2016, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Peter's Church celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam.  

Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Prayers will be offered Wednesday September 7, 2016 at  7:00pm in St. Peter’s Church. 

If friends desire, memorials to St. Peter’s Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

 Benny Matulak will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
