Berthe Claudette Shoup

19 Feb 1944 – 11 Jan 2024

Born in St Boniface (Winnipeg), MB to parents Napoleon and Marguerite Pelletier as part of a rambunctious family of 9 siblings.

From an early age, Claudette had an ability to maintain a positive outlook on life, which lasted to the end of her time on this earth. Claudette liked to keep busy growing up, with various activities including Girl Guides and bowling. It was while working as office staff at the University of Manitoba in 1967, she would meet her eventual partner John, to whom she would marry in 1969.

In following John in his career to Sault Ste Marie and finally arriving in Thunder Bay in 1977. In the years following her arrival in Thunder Bay, she found herself busy with a variety of activities – working at Zellers @ County Fair, Tupperware, Amway, food demonstrators @ Court St Safeway (known as the fish lady), Scouting, Epicure and bowling to name a few. But she was most proud of the job of being a mother to her son and took pride in his accomplishments. Over the years,

Claudette was known to enjoy the company of friends, often could be found dancing along to the music, either on the dance floor or in the park at the summer concerts at the Marina. Even with the onset of dementia, her appreciation of music was not diminished. Claudette was predeceased by her parents, husband John, sisters Yvonne, Jeanette and brother Gil.

She is survived by her son John, brothers Raymond, Robert, Phil and sisters Denise and Bernice and numerous nieces and nephews. Words cannot express the family’s appreciation for the care that Claudette has received during her stay at Bethammi.

Cremation has occurred and interment will occur, no service has been planned, we would request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Claudette’s memory to St Joseph’s Care Group.
