Beverly Gammond
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Beverly Beatrice Edna Gammond. Bev passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospice on Monday December 14th, 2020.

Bev was born in Port Arthur on July 26, 1941. She attended St. Stans elementary school and Selkirk high school, were she loved being a cheerleader.

It is at school, and in her East End neighbourhood, that she met her lifelong group of friends. This amazing group of friends stuck together with each other through all the ups and downs that life brought them. This same group of friends are still getting together once a month for lunch. These lunch dates met so much to Mom.

Bev was always told just how beautiful she was. She was truly beautiful inside and out. It’s this beauty and honest nature that caught the eye of Raymond Gammond and from there it was no turning back. They were soon married, and she proudly became his “Trophy Wife”. They had two children, son Bradley, and daughter Marnie.

Bev was a stay-at-home mom while the kids were young and helped run the family business, “Sunshine Baits” with Ray.

Bev had an honest and quick wit to her which made you feel welcomed and relaxed. Many people sat around the Gammond kitchen table on Frederica St, sipping a cup of coffee, sharing stories and many laughs.

Mom was always doing something creative and crafty. She was a very talented painter and was a florist for many years.

Another hobby of Bev’s was travelling south of the border and trying her odds on the slot machines. Many miles were logged going to the casino.

After Ray passed, Bev moved into an apartment, and soon met and became friends with a great group of individuals. She became known as the “puzzle piece flipper” and took her role quite seriously. Thanks so very much to the gang at Frontenac Bay for taking Mom under your wings and always looking out for her.

Mom loved animals, especially cats. I am sure she is cuddling with Melissa and Katie right now.

Bev is predeceased by her father Hiram, mother Edna, stepmom Irene, sisters, Connie, Charlette, Barb and the love of her life Ray.

Bev is survived by son Bradley (Tanya), daughter Marnie (Shawn), grandchildren Tyler, Jamie, Jessica, Liam, Lachy, Hunter, Shelby and two great granddaughters and one great grandson.

Special thanks to Bev’s daughter-in-law Tanya, who became her caregiver for the past several years, you were one of her angels. Also, thanks to the staff of TBRHSC, the staff of 2 North St. Joes, Dr Cheryl Everall, Sheri - Bev’s palliative care nurse, Dr Migay and the Hospice Staff.

A Celebration of Beverly's Life will be held at a later date and interment will take place in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Bev to Caring Hearts Cat Rescue would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
