Bev Boress had a very peaceful exit from this life on Monday, November 12, 2018. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, and many people who miss her.

Bev was born on November 10, 1945 in Port Arthur to Kay and Frank Koss. She was the older sister to Gord and Connie. Growing up in Current River, Bev attended Lakeview High School. She married Norm McKinnon and they also raised their family in Current River. She went on to graduate from the Nursing Program at Confederation College, later going back to upgrade her skills in the Social Work Program, and worked for the City of Thunder Bay’s Social Services Department. A huge badge of honour for her was completing and passing the College’s challenging Life Skills Program, and she used her training well in the field.

Bev’s lifelong work journey was truly about helping others. Having a very spiritual soul, it was a natural progression for Bev to discover the mystical world of angels and how they could assist people. She found a calling with Angel Therapy and through this she gave guidance. She genuinely cared about people and they were drawn to her for her kindness and compassion. Her door was always open for friends and family to come for a heart-to-heart. Before you went on a trip, it was common to swing by Bev’s to pick up an Angel card to ensure a safe journey. When someone was being challenged with a difficult decision or situation, Bev would say “Come over and pick an Angel card”. This would spark discussion that would lead to a new perspective. Bev gave presents that were not material, but so much more valuable - she had a real gift for supporting and comforting people.

Music gave Bev joy - she loved going to shows and concerts - even when she had to climb a fence to get in!

A new chapter began when she met Bill Boress. They married in 1992 in San Francisco. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until his death in 2010.

Bev was predeceased by her parents, husband Bill Boress, and brother Gord; survived by son Rod McKinnon (Alexa).

Memories of Angel Bev's love & laughter will be missed by all: daughter Kelly (Bruce Browne); grandson Brady Browne (Caroline Hunt); sister Connie Brogan; nieces Mitchelle (Gary) Liddicoat, Madison Edwards (Keenan Colosimo), Mallory (Ryan) Karsten; great nephews Jordan Liddicoat and Zachary Karsten; stepfamily Bill Gashinski, Bob (Michelle) Gashinski, Rick (Bev) Gashinski, Andrea Lucier (Jay) and Diane Murray; as well as Sydney, Macy, Lexi, Harper, Erik, Bria, Cameron, Brandon, Dustin, Matthew, and Cesar.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Bevy on Thursday, December 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Current River Recreation Centre, 450 Dewe Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated.
