Mr. Bill Rogers, age 81 years, a longtime resident of Current River, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 in the London Health Sciences Centre.

Bill was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on April 30, 1930 to Alexander and Lena Rogers. As a young man he moved to Port Arthur where he met Jean Melluish, whom he married in 1953.
Bill's life centered on his family and he was happiest when he was with them, especially his grandchildren. In order to keep his children and grandchildren close to home he put a pool in the backyard where many great memories were made. Bill mainly worked in sales during his working years, a profession he excelled at.

He was very involved with and proud of his Current River Community where he raised his family, coached in youth sports, predominantly baseball and hockey and was a Past President of the Current River Recreation Centre.

He enjoyed golfing, curling, cribbage and was an avid snooker player. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, children: Gary Rogers, Chris (Doug) Irwin, Billy (Christine) Rogers and Debbie (James) Coady; grandchildren: Kirsten (Dennis) Pradal, Kyle Rogers, Scott (Sharlene) Irwin, Kim (Eric) Ekholm, Eric Rogers, Abby Rogers, Matthew Coady and Alyssa Coady; two great grandsons Logan Irwin and Alexander Ekholm, sisters Helen Rogers and Marion (Jim) Payetta as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Current River Rec. Centre where the words of tribute will be offered at 2:30 p.m.
