The family of Bob Doucette, age 71 years, sadly announce the passing of their Husband, Father, Step-Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother and best friend.  Bob passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side at the TBRHSC on May 12, 2017.

Bob was born October 7, 1945 in Port Arthur.  He lived in Current River for many years of his life where he made lifelong friends.  He worked at the grain elevators, Dingwells and the Provincial Paper Mill.

From a young age Bob was an avid sportsman.  He loved his golfing, baseball, fishing, snowmobiling and hunting.  Over the years he had many special golf memories but nothing compared to his winning the Super Senior Championship Trophy in the 2006 Strathcona Invitational.  As his health began to deteriorate Bob enjoyed most sports, watching them on TV as well as his trips to various casinos with Laurel and their friends.

He is survived by his loving wife and soul-mate Laurel of 24 years;  daughter Laura (Mike) Evanyk, granddaughters Samantha (Joel) and Jamie (Brodie);  sister Barbara (Darryl) Shewchuk and nephews Robin (Julie) and Jeff (Stacey);  step-children Dean (Lynda) Salerno, Kelly Salerno, Nicole (Roger) Yurick, step-grandchildren Amanda (Colin) Kehler and great granddaughter Delilah;  Devin Salerno, Colton, Regan, Emmett and Alexis Yurick;  sister-in-law Lorna Pink and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Eddie and Margaret Doucette, sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Bob Barquest and a number of his good friends.

Special thanks to the ICU and 2C doctors and nurses at TBRHSC for the care, comfort and compassion provided to Bob and our family.

A Celebration of Life to share memories of Bob will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Current River Recreation Centre.

Cremation has taken place and a family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation or the TBRHSC-Northern Cancer Fund.
