August 15, 1960 – August 22, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bonnie Lynn Eichmanis (née Kuchiak), age 65 years. She passed peacefully at home on Friday August 22, 2025.
Bonnie was born in Port Arthur, Ontario to Sharron (née Parsons) and Thomas Kuchiak. She was educated locally at St.Paul and St.Theresa catholic schools before moving on to Lakeview Highschool.
Bonnie began her 30+ yr career at 150 Castlegreen in the 80s before moving on to Glenwood Court and becoming a very respected union rep while also working at HAGI Transit as a dispatch operator, she eventually became a coordinator. She spent years in this position before finally settling in as a coordinator for CSI North West, where she finished out her working years. Bonnie made many friends along the way and loved both the staff and clients she worked with and the feeling was mutual.
Bonnie loved travelling, having made trips to England touring castles, Dubai riding camels or simply crossing the border to hit the casinos. Long drives to Southern Ontario to spend quality time with her sister, while spoiling her nieces and nephews was one of her favorite times! She was also a die-hard fan of the Montreal Canadiens and New York Yankees, which made for some entertaining disputes amongst the family. She always looked forward to watching the games with best friend, Ken Eichmanis.
Above all else, family was Bonnie’s true passion, and time spent with her children, grandchildren, mother, sister, nieces and nephews always brought the greatest joy.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Shannon (Michael) Lesperance (Sand Point First Nation), son Ryan (Tina) Eichmanis (Thunder Bay); Mother Sharron Parsons (Thunder Bay), sister Wendy Geneau (Brantford), grandchildren Alexa, Kori, Sara, Samantha, Houston, Hunter and Dylan. Great grandchildren Gabriella, Jaiden, Deserae, Paisley, Tianna, Sterling, Jamey, Rheal, Shaylee, Rose, Talya, and Mattais. Nieces Emily, Abigail, Nephews Myles, Colby, Caleb, Austin and great ones Ricky, Heather, Decker and her best friend, Ken Eichmanis, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bonnie is predeceased by her father Thomas Kuchiak, her beloved son James Eichmanis and brother-in- law Felix Geneau.
We would like to thank the EMS and community care team for all of their help and support, to Dr. Boake for his care and endless patience with our many questions, concerns and calls. Dr. Franchi for his years as her doctor. The renal and cardiac team & nursing staff of TBRHSC for your compassion, care and support over the last few years. It did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025 with a Come and Go Reception from 1-3pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. There will be no formal service, however an open mic will be available for those who wish to share a story or memory.
