It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Lee Suteu. Brenda passed away peacefully at home on August 21st, 2021, with family by her side, after a short but aggressive fight with cancer.

Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she and her parents, Bill and Violet Nekuliak, along with her siblings, settled in Thunder Bay when Brenda was a child. She met John Suteu in Thunder Bay as a teenager, and the two were married on February 16th, 1980.

Brenda is survived by her loving and dedicated husband John, children Jeremy (Lyndsay) and Kerry Ann (Manuel), grandsons Quinton and Gabriel, siblings Brad (Diane), Owen (Daniela), and Lynn (Richard), mother-in-law Therese, siblings in-law Augie, Sylvie (Brian), and Linda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Bill and Violet Nekuliak, father-in-law Gabriel Suteu, and brother-in-law Luc Suteu.

Brenda loved spending her time at camp at Obonga Lake with John, family and many friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and traveling to see her children. She loved feeding and watching the birds, tending to her gardens, going for walks, completing arts and crafts, and caring for her late dog Marley and cat Zoe. She will be remembered for her eyerolls, sarcasm, love for gossip, and putting extra ice cubes in her drink.

Family would like to extend gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the oncology unit at the TBRHSC, as well as the home care teams from Paramed and Bayshore, who provided exceptional and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the TBRHSC – Cancer Care. A Celebration of Life will be held at Obonga Lake at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
