It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Cecil Mehagan announce his passing while at his home on September 12, 2015 at the age of 63, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born in Port Arthur and a lifelong resident of Current River, Brian was an exceptional finishing carpenter and cabinet maker, working for various companies until opening his own business.  Brian had a passion for music and was a drummer in various bands in Thunder Bay, and also enjoyed travelling with family and friends.  His adventures took him to Montreal as an avid Canadiens fan, Japan twice to visit his son Brady, and exploring Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Caribbean.  He enjoyed spending his summers with family and friends camping at Mirror Lake Campground, often spending the early morning hours star gazing with his wife Diane.  Family and friends will truly miss Brian’s witty sense of humor and continued positive outlook on life.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his wife and lifelong partner of 45 years Diane, three sons Michael (Jacquie), Brady (Madoka), and Charlie (Jayme), and his five grandchildren Noah, Reid, Luke, Kenna, and Lily whom he adored.  Also surviving are eleven siblings Don, Roy (Debra), Terry (Evy), Kenny (Elda), Donna Chard (Doug), Colleen, Jerry (Mary Lee), Darlene Stewart (Duncan), Rita Lehtinen (Allan), Beverly Long (Dave), and Randy (Karen), mother and father in-law Doris and Henry Hansen, and his brother-in-law Erik (Tanya), sister-in-laws Edi, Cheryl Allison (Kim), Heather (Brent), and many nieces, nephews and camp friends.

Brian was predeceased by his parents George and Lillian Mehagan, step-siblings Yvonne and Raymond, and loving companion and family dog Sammy.

Brian’s family is very appreciative for the exceptional care and support provided to him over the years and would like to extend a sincere thank-you to our close family members, and the staff of St. Joseph's Care Group and Revera.  You know who you are!!!

Funeral Services for the late Brian Mehagan will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015, in the chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland St. with services led by Rev. Ed Long. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Brian’s memory to The Multiple Sclerosis Society Thunder Bay Chapter, or to the charity of their choice.
