Brittany Lesperance

With great heartache, the Lesperance family announces the passing of their beautiful daughter and sister Brittany Lyn Lesperance on April 4th 2022. Brittany was born on April 14th 1988 in Thunder Bay, Ontario and lived in Lake Helen Reserve, Ontario.

Britty was raised on Lake Helen Reserve and spent a big part of her childhood in Rocky Bay First Nation. She graduated from Nip-Rock High and attended Confederation College studying to be an Electrical Engineering Technician. She wasn’t satisfied there and soon found her place in the world by obtaining an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 402. Our Sparky was preparing to write her Red Seal Exam and we know she would have passed with flying colors because she was so intelligent and accomplished. Brittany wasn’t satisfied unless her grades were in the 90’s but begrudgingly ‘accepted’ 80’s. She loved her job at Pro Gen Inc. and quickly gained the respect from her journeymen where she was known as ‘B’. She loved traveling to remote First Nation communities to help bring electricity to advance the community. Her big sister was especially proud that Brittany helped with the facilitation of electricity for the electric car charging station in Nipigon.

Our beautiful Britty cherished her family and was happiest spending time with them. She was always down for fishing with her brothers, sitting around a fire with friends and of course Bingo. She loved watching football and was an avid reader. She was happiest when she was with her family and was a lover of music and was a Metal Head. Traveling to Quebec each year to attend Rockfest with her Mom and siblings created many happy and lasting memories.

Britty was a loving Auntie, known as Auntie Crabby by her nieces and nephew, River, Emma, Ember and Adaline.

Britty will be sadly missed by her parents Cheryl and Michael (Shannon), big sissy, Courtney, little bro’s, Stuart (Kristina) and Sterling (Kelsey). Uncle Frank, Auntie Heather, cousin Maegan, best friend Julie Thompson and many other family and friends will miss Brittany terribly. Brittany will also be greatly missed by her only surviving grandparent, her Gaga, Harold Michon of Rocky Bay, Ontario.

We all take great comfort in the fact that Britty was happy with herself, her life, her career and was living life on her own terms.

A private traditional ceremony took place on April 9th in Nipigon, Ontario. Britty was helped on her journey to her ancestors with tremendous love, pride, strength and dignity by her family and close friends.

The family of Britty would like to thank everyone who supported us during this difficult time. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Brittany’s memory to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD).

We all love you very much and will miss you forever Britty.
Fly high in the spirit world like you did on earth. Xo
