Mr. Bruce Henry Cote, age 84 years, a resident of Nipigon, passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2015.
Whether it was driving logs down the river, or harvesting trees, Bruce will always be remembered as a hard worker. He enjoyed his times outdoors; this was evident by the fact that he spent most of his work life working in the bush or on the Nipigon River for Domtar until he retired. It was during this time that he met and worked alongside some of his lifelong friends.
If you were looking for Bruce during the summer you would usually find him puttering around in his garden with his dog Lady by his side. Bruce had a great passion for gardening, fishing, picking blueberries, listening to country music, and spending time with all his children and grandchildren.
Bruce enjoyed spending his Friday nights with his children and close friends at the Nipigon Legion listening to his son Gerald sing and play the guitar.
Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his children Caroline (Paul) Nyman, Anne Legarde, Terry (Betty) Bouchard, Betty(Les) Toth, Rose(Darwin) Christensen, Gerald Cote, Geraldine(Edward) Thompson, Helen(Robin) Staats, Theresa Cote.
Bruce is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Cote, by two daughters Shirley Lesperance, and Catherine Hardy, and by his mother Gladys Jodery, and his loving grandmother Lois Cote.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street presided by Rev’d Canon Ed Swayze. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
