Mr. Bruno Donato age 94 years a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital on Dec. 24, 2010 with his family by his side. 

Bruno was born on June 3, 1916 in Simbario, Italy to Giuseppe and Rosa Donato.  He was a member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church, the Seniors Bocce Club and the Italian Cultural Centre.  A veteran of the Second World War, Bruno worked for many years for P.N.G. Construction and others, Northern Wood Preservers and most recently with Donato's Bakery working there until July of 2009.

Bruno was a master of the barbeque and to him the only way of barbequing was with charcoal.  Bruno's main interest were his family, home and his garden.  He was a devoted grandfather and great grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who he kept entertained  by his wonderful story telling.

Bruno will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosaria with whom he would have celebrated 72 years of marriage on Jan. 29, 2011, two daughters Rosina and Caterina, six grandchildren;  Connie (Frank), Giuseppe (Anna), Bruno (Anna), James, Donato (fiancee  Francesca) and David, 6 great grandchildren;  Domenico, Andrew, Rosemary, Julia, Sophia and  Francesco, sisters  Lisa  and Carmela, brothers Domenico and Giuseppe.

He was predeceased by two children in infancy, sister Maria and brothers Vincenzo and Salvatore.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29 when family and friends will gather at St. Anthony's R.C. Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.   A private entombment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street.
