Carmine Caruso, age 84, of Gibsons, British Columbia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 19, 2018.

Carmine Caruso was born in Grimaldi, Cozenza on April 12,1934. As a young man, Carmine worked as an olive tree arborist and married his wife Elvira of 61 years, in Italy. Carmine and his family landed in Nova Scotia, Canada on December 6, 1959 and settled with his family in Thunder Bay, Ontario. With a new life in Canada, Carmine began work on the railroad and other jobs in the beginning, leading to him starting his own business, C. Carmine & Sons, doing concrete work. Along with working hard as a provider for his family, he always enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and mushroom and blueberry picking. He always loved to garden and grow his various fruits and vegetables. His passion for the outdoors gave him so much joy to be in nature and provide for his family.

Carmine and his wife welcomed two more children in Canada, Carlo and Rosa, whom he enjoyed bringing along his continued nature adventures. Carmine enjoyed travelling back to his homeland in Italy and other sunny destinations, such as Florida, where he and his wife spent the winter months for 15 years. Carmine also had a garden in Florida, growing tropical foods as well. In 1999, Carmine started another adventure and moved with his wife to British Columbia where he enjoyed having a longer growing season, while living in Canada and spending time with his daughter and children as well.
