Carol Dunne

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Dunne, at the age of 66, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol was born in Fort Frances on June 30, 1951. She moved to Thunder Bay to pursue her nursing degree in 1969 and graduated in 1972 as a registered nurse.

Carol shared her knowledge and expertise for 44 years, specializing in NICU.

In August 1974 she married the love of her life, the late Kevin Dunne and together raised their three children. She loved spending her time with family, especially her grandchildren, summers at camp and travelling. She is predeceased by her husband Kevin and parents Lois and William Makarenko. Carol is survived by her three children Matthew (Dani), Shannon and Kathleen; grandchildren Paige, Cameron and Gracie; sisters Patti (Allan) and Jill (Harvey) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members which she adored. 

Celebration of Life to be held at the Nor’Wester Hotel on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11am - 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s memory to TBRHSC NICU Fund.
