Carol Lund

It is with great sorrow the family of Carol Elizabeth Lund (nee Hohn), age 83, announces her sudden passing on September 9, 2021.  Born in Shaunavon, SK on June 12, 1938 to Frank and Doris Hohn.  Carol grew up on the prairies riding horses and developing her deep love of gardening.

Carol graduated from Grace Hospital Nursing Program in Winnipeg in 1959.   After moving back to Dryden to work at the Dryden Regional Hospital she met the love of her life Ralph Lund and they were married in 1965.  In 1971 Carol and Ralph built the Evening Star Motel in Dryden and welcomed their daughter Karen later that same year.  Carol continued to work at the hospital until she retired and started doing homecare visits with the VON.  In 2001 they decided to move from Dryden to Thunder Bay to be closer to their grandchildren.

Even after the move to Thunder Bay their summers were spent at the camp on Dinorwic Lake until it was sold in 2018.  Carol always enjoyed her gardens on Ryzcko Road and at the camp on Dinorwic. She especially loved her roses and if you ever received one you were special to her.  

Carol will be deeply missed by her daughter Karen (Brian); grandchildren Colin, Shannon and Amanda (Blake); brothers Wayne (Barb), Larry (Evelyn) and Bill (Janie); sisters Beverly (Ron) and Heather (Randy) and sister-in-law Joe Ann as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her parents Frank and Doris Hohn, her sister Joan; brothers David, Bob and Phil and her niece Tracy.

Services will be held on Friday September 17th at 1:00 pm at Evangel Church, 1260 Balmoral Street in Thunder Bay. For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website, beginning on Saturday.

COVID-19 Protective measures are still being applied in group settings. Capacity is limited, masks or face coverings are required and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending the service.

Should friends desire, donations made in memory of Carol to TBHRSF Renal Department or Evangel Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street, Thunder Bay.
