Cashmier Podlewski
Cashmier (Cash) Podlewski passed away peacefully at his home in Kakabeka Falls on Sunday August 22, 2021.

Born in Poland on October 31, 1939, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 10 with his mother and grandmother to join his father who had arrived earlier to secure employment.

The Podlewski’s made their home in Current River where he eventually attended Hillcrest High School.

When family illness struck his father, Cash went to find work as a Merchant Marine on the Lakers which lead to building a home and business (The Ford Shoe Repair) in Westfort.

Cash then met his loving wife Patricia DePiero in 1960 and were married in 1963. As a young husband he went to night school to get his journeyman’s papers. Spending the next 40 yrs between Great Lakes and Abitibi as a dedicated Millwright. Respected by all who worked with him as he was meticulous in every job he did. Whether it was in the mill or his own backyard. A lifelong fisherman and lover of the outdoors, he took pride in teaching and sharing that love and knowledge with his children and grandchildren.

Cash was a lifelong member the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the 4th Degree team and past Grand Knight.

Retiring in 2002, Cash spent his remaining years with his beloved Pat, residing in Rosslyn Village.

He kept busy in his golden years becoming his grandkids best “cheerleader”. From dance, song and cheerleading to hockey, lacrosse, baseball and football. There was nothing that made him happier than to attend these events or to talk about them with those who he couldn’t see often enough.

Lovingly remembered by, wife of 58 years, Patricia. Son John (Courtney), Daughters Jodi & Jenna Macsemchuk (Allen). Grandchildren, Natasha, Joshua, Stefan and Noah Podlewski, Alexis & Courtney Beerthuizen, and Brock & Chase Macsemchuk. Great granddaughter Madison Fitzgerald.

Predeceased by his parents Walter & Mary, in-laws Rudy & Helen DePiero, and sister-in-law Debbie DePiero.
