Catherine Noreen Guse

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Catherine Noreen Guse of Thunder Bay, Ontario announce her passing Sunday February 8th, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cathy’s strength and sense of humor was evident throughout her year long struggle.

Cathy spent many years working for the Royal Bank of Canada making many professional and personal friendships. She had a great love for gardening, horses, dogs and nature in general.

Cathy was born December 26th, 1954 in Thunder Bay. Cathy was predeceased by her husband Howard Guse, grandparents Lucas and Kirsten Pettersen, father Rolf Pettersen, grandparents Arnold and Eva Young and sister in-law Heather Pettersen.

She is survived by her mother Eleanor Pettersen of Thunder Bay, Sister Susan (Frank) Herr of Toronto and brother David Pettersen of Red Rock. Also surviving are nieces Alison and Julia Herr, Kiersten Pettersen and nephew Jordan Pettersen. Cathy showed enormous pride in her nephew and nieces and continuously talked about them and their accomplishments. Cathy’s family would like to acknowledge the assistance and support of her closest friends during her time of need.

We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at both the TBRHSC and St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassion, support and professionalism. As per Cathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may make charitable donations to the TBRHSC towards their Exceptional Cancer Care Campaign or to the animal shelter or rescue of their choice.
