It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Cecil Morgan Smith, age 82 years, on June 21, 2022 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Cecil was born August 18, 1939 in Wiarton, Ontario to Hannah and Franklin Smith. He attended Colpoy's Bay Schoolhouse, Wiarton District High School and later Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, earning his master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He came to Thunder Bay in 1966 where he worked for the region and district, eventually landing at Northern Development and Mines in 1979, retiring at age 55, after 29 years of service.
Cecil was a quiet and introspective man, loved dearly by many. He devoted his life to his faith. He was a Pastor and long-time member of the Community of Christ Church.
Survived by his beloved son, Jeremy (Meaghan) and granddaughters, Hannah and Emma as well as numerous extended family.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda (2012); his parents and siblings.
Private interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
Donations in memory of Cecil Smith may be made to the Community of Christ Church.
