Charles Edward ‘Bud’ Baker, age 93 years, passed away on September 20, 2018 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

‘Bud’ was born November 21, 1924 in Fort William, to Edward and Daisy (Ellard) Baker. Bud first married in 1950, to the mother of his four children. In 1964, the family moved to Los Angeles, California and on to Southeast Texas the following year. The family resided in Houston and Beaumont. After his retirement, Bud returned to Thunder Bay in 2005 and married Val Stark. 

Bud was in the Royal Canadian Navy in his youth and later worked for Northland Machinery, Westinghouse, and General Electric Supply. He was a member of the Kinsmen, and later K40 Club. Bud enjoyed golfing, cooking, and making trips to the casino. 

Bud was predeceased by his parents Edward and Daisy Baker; brothers Graham Baker, Robert Baker; and wife, Val Baker. He is survived by his children, Betty Reynard (David), Janice Novick (Howard), Brad Baker, and Brent Baker (LuLu); grandsons, Justin Heiman, Brian Reynard, and William Baker; sisters Kathleen Gruen, and Edna Loiselle; brother Jerry Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends a most heartfelt thank you to Bud’s girlfriend and partner of many years, Stella Leiterman. Stella was by Bud’s side and was a constant source of compassion and kindness for him and his children in his last days.

A celebration of Bud’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in the reception hall of Harbourview Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of your choice.
