It is with broken hearts and tearful eyes with her family by her side we announce the passing of Cheryl Lynn Harriet Hanchar following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and Moppy to her grandchildren. Cheryl had a heart of gold and fulfilled her life to the fullest with her family, friends and grandsons Ryder, Atty, Lucas. Cheryl had a passion for cooking and hosting parties for any holiday event - Christmas especially. Boy did we party. She would always convince everyone to stay longer no matter what time of night it was.

Cheryl was born May 17, 1959, to Larry and Marion Willis. Cheryl was a stay at home mom until she took on a job driving school bus for 30 years. She made many close friends and her kids loved her.
Cheryl would offer a hand and tackle any task no matter what it was you were doing. It was always said if you want anything done ask Cheryl. Cheryl married her high school sweetheart, Terry Hanchar, and built a lasting life together raising our two boys, Darren and Curtis, whom she was extremely proud of. Cheryl’s passion was all about the family gatherings, her precious grandchildren, and our truly amazing friends. She was blessed with two amazing daughters-in-law, Laura and Shanlee, whom she deeply loved. Our trips to Calgary to spend time with Curtis and Shanlee, grandsons Ryder and Atty were cherished. Cheryl also loved camping at Stewart Lake with Darren, Laura and her special little man Lucas. Cheryl would pack enough food for a week even though we were only going for the weekend. She also loved her water gun battles with anyone on the lake - everyone was fair game. Cheryl’s mother-in-law Joan Hanchar said Cheryl was like a daughter to her. They had a wonderful relationship.

The family would like to express our extreme appreciation for everything Cheryl’s sisters and our close friends did for us. It was amazing and heart felt. You guys were the best. Thanks Della and the gang at First Student for your support and generosity.

Special appreciation and thanks for Dr. Delpaggio and his staff for their care and compassion.

Cheryl will be forever cherished and missed by her husband Terry, sons Darren(Laura) and Curtis (Shanlee), sisters Terri(Gary), Donna, Lori(Murray), and Jodi(Jack), sisters-in-law Linda and Barb, nana Joan Hanchar, grandchildren Ryder, Atty and Lucas, nieces and nephews Stefanie, Sara, Kyle, Mat, Christopher, Dereck, Ryan, Lana, Travis.

Cheryl is predeceased by her parents Larry and Marion Willis, niece Stacey, and father-in-law Richard Hanchar.

A celebration for friends and family will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the West Thunder Community Centre, 915 Edward St. S. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Cheryl to the George Jeffrey Treatment Centre.

Cheryl we will be together again when I come up to join you. Your suffering is no more.
You were the best girl I could ever have spent my life with.
Rest in peace
Love you for eternity Terry.
