Christine Elisabeth Asmus

Our Mom, Mutti, Oma, Christine, Christa, Tante Christa, age 84, died on January 11, 2022 in her home at Bethammi Nursing Home in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Christine was born in Lippstadt, Germany on February 12, 1937, the third of four children.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Heinrich, son Andreas (Alyson), daughter Lydia (Glenn) and her grandaughters Cesan and Alix (Tyson). Also sadly missed by her sister Gertrud Wolke (Josef), her nieces and nephews Barbara, Annegret, Hildegard, Thomas, Susanna and Patrick. Christine is predeceased by her parents Johannes Hofer (1968) and Gertrud Hofer (1977), her sister Marita (1980), her brother Gottfried (2006) and her first granddaughter Tye Christine (1992).

She will be lovingly remembered for her care and devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and home. She will also be remembered for her love of reading, nature walks with her beloved dog Terra and gardening. For special occasions, holidays and visits, she cooked and baked for family and friends their favourite meals and cakes. She will be mostly remembered by all who knew her for her gentleness, kindness and smiles.

A private gathering of family and friends to honour Christine was held on Saturday January 15, 2022 at Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel in Thunder Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a nature conservatory of your choice or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
