Mrs. Colleen Pearl Alkenbrack (nee Caddo) age 79 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer’s on Friday, December 23, 2016 in Pinewood Court long term care facility with family by her side.

Colleen was born in 1937 in Fort William. She attended Heath Park school and FWCI before moving on to North Bay to finish teachers college. 

Colleen taught for a several years at Francis Street School prior to her marriage to Jack in 1960. Colleen and Jack met in the then Beachcombers group at First Church United. Colleen was active in the church with the UCW, she was Director at Camp Duncan Memorial Camp and with CGIT. 

Colleen sang in the church choir and together with Jack were members of the Couples Club.  Colleen and Jack enjoyed travelling with their four girls to both coasts and some states before selling the trailer and buying the lakeside camp at Cloud Lake in 1985 which they enjoyed for 31 years.   Colleen always enjoyed time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Colleen is survived by her husband Jack of 56 years of marriage, daughters Susan (Greg) Malo, Joan Alkenbrack, Margo (Darryl) Wilson, Beth (Lynda) Alkenbrack, Grandchildren; Jason (Kelsey) Malo, Stephen (Irene) Malo, Michael Alkenbrack, Kailynn (Darren) Wilson, and Tanis Wilson, Great-grandchildren; Kamryn, Jackson, Ethan, and Victor. Also surviving is sister Betty Hutton, brother Don (Fran) Caddo, sister-in-law Sandra Caddo, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents Russell and Margaret Caddo, Parents-in-law Ross and Bessie Alkenbrack, brothers Lorne and Bob Caddo, and brother-in-law Don Hutton.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Blake Funeral Chapel. The service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00am at  First Wesley United Church (corner of Brodie and Miles Street) with Reverend Hewit Holmes, assisted by close family friend Reverend Ken Moffat. Interment to come at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Wesway or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

 Colleen Alkenbrack will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017
