Mrs. Concepcion Suarez, age 78 years, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to the late Concepcion and Manuel Vazquez on May 8, 1944 in Ramirás, Ourense, Spain.
On July 28, 1979 Concepcion married her best friend, Dario Suarez, in Ourense, Spain before immigrating to Thunder Bay, Ontario, the following August.
When living in Thunder Bay, she worked as a seamstress at Tan Jay, then moved on to make pastries for her friend Grace’s home baking business. During this time Concepcion was enrolled with Confederation College to learn English while raising her two children; Ana and Sandra. Concepcion dedicated her life to her family as they were her sole source of joy. Nothing made her smile more than seeing her family happy.
Concepcion is survived by her husband Dario Suarez; daughters Sandra Piaskowski (Ryan) and Ana Suarez, and grandchildren Jackson, Jeremy, and Joseph Piaskowski and Daisy Morton; nephews Manuel, Ladislao, and Henry Suarez (Carla Fazio); her brother in Spain, Diego (Lola), as well as many loved nieces and nephews outside of Canada.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 9:30 am to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass to begin at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 2nd from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre where the Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
