Connie Grant, age 85, passed away peacefully at Sister Leila Greco Apartments on July 4, 2021. She was born and raised in Fort William and attended Drew Street School and Fort William Vocational. Growing up and into her adulthood, she spent many summers at the family camp at Green Bay on Lake Superior. After completing high school, she continued her education at the McKellar General Hospital School of Nursing. Over the years, she worked as a nurse at McKellar Hospital and Grandview Lodge.

Connie married James (Jim) Withenshaw Grant in 1962 and raised two children, Jim and Nancy. As a family, they spent many weekends fishing on Lac des Mille Lacs or at their camp at Crystal Lake. After retiring, Jim and Connie spent several years at Lake Agimac in Ignace, ON and often pulled their trailer to various locations in North America.

Connie was one of the original residents to move into the Sister Leila Greco Apartments, and while living here, she started a weekly singing group. In her last few years, she enjoyed weekend outings for pancakes.

Connie was predeceased by her parents Bill and Sylvia Aris, her husband Jim in 2004, and good friend Don. She is survived by her son, Jim Grant (Holly) and granddaughter Alexa, and daughter Nancy Grant Brown (Kevin) and granddaughters Carly and Brandy. Also surviving is her sister Sally Eggett (Barry) in British Columbia.

A special thanks to the staff at Sister Leila Greco Apartments for their kindness and excellent care over the years.

Connie had a soft spot for animals and had several dogs during her lifetime. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.

The family will be holding a private memorial service.
