With great admiration we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Corinne Margaret Wainio. Corinne was born April 9th, 1927 in Edmonton Alberta to Jenny Abbott-Bowie and Jim Bowie.

Following her zest for life and free spirt, Corinne set out for new adventures and landed in Port Arthur.

Right from the start Corinne was an independent gal who was captivated by the beauty of our Northern landscape, and all the outdoors had to offer. She loved fishing in the summer, skating on the outdoor rinks, downhill skiing, but really shone at curling. Corinne was a life- long member of the Port Arthur Curling Club and loved curling with all the ladies and also liked mixed curling with her husband Raymond.

Friday’s were always the “Maid’s day out” she would say, and head off for a massage, the hair salon, and would finish up at the grocery store to bring treats home for camp.

Corinne was a dedicated mother and wife. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma and was thrilled by the fact that she was a Great Grandmother who by the way stopped ageing at 39 … and holding.

Corinne and Raymond loved their daughters, Wendy, and Janeece. With her vivacious personality, and infectious wit she always empowered her daughters to be strong independent women and was extremely proud of both of them.

Wendy and her husband Luciano blessed Corinne and Raymond with five terrific grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Corinne and Raymond supported all of them in their sporting and life events.

Corinne loved being an integral part of the crew when it came to building her homes and camp, she also loved to whip up fantastic meals for the family to enjoy. All of this along with her family leave behind a legacy of love and memories to cherish.

Corinne was predeceased by her father, Jim Bowie, her mother Jenny Bowie, her husband Raymond Wainio, and her son in law Peter Arella.

She is survived by her daughter Janeece Arella, Wendy & Luciano Piccinin, Cheree and Colin Campbell, Jacob and MacKenzie Logan, Aaron and Tracey Piccinin, Braydon and Cole Piccinin, Katie and Neal Cardy, Keegan, Gabriella and Reese Cardy, Alicia Piccinin, Cody Carrier and Nash Carrier and her brother Ron Bowie and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on February 4th 2019 at 10:30a.m. in the chapel at Sargent and Son Funeral Home with Nancy Ringham officiating at 21 North Court Street.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Regional Health Sciences Centre Northern Cardiac Fund.
