It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Courtney Theresa Rose Twance, whose spirit name is White Rose, on July 7, 2025, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 37.
Courtney was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and raised in Manitouwadge before moving back to Thunder Bay with her mother and brother. She was the devoted and loving partner of 16 years to Matt Peterson, and the proud mother of her two beautiful daughters, Leighton and Oaklyn Twance, who were the light of her life. She was also a cherished stepmother to Keiran and Emma Peterson, and a deeply loved auntie to Anthony.
She will be profoundly missed by her brothers Rheal and Kevin Twance, her aunts Martha, Geri, and Beatrice, and her uncle Duncan. Courtney was predeceased by her beloved mother Joan Twance, and her mother-in-law Georganne Peterson.
Courtney carried a deep sense of responsibility and compassion, caring for many of her family members throughout her life. She had a warm and giving heart, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.
She was passionate about music, loved going for walks in nature, and was a proud Marvel fan. Her quiet strength, humour, and the deep love she had for her family will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Castlegreen Community Centre, 213 Castlegreen Drive, Thunder Bay. All are welcome to attend and share in remembering Courtney. Please confirm your attendance by July 16th by messaging Beatrice Twance-Hynes or Matt Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been created to support her daughters, Leighton and Oaklyn, as they navigate life without their mother:
Your generosity helps provide for their needs and healing. Thank you for your support.
