Mrs. Danila Rubert age 87 years, a resident of McIntosh Street, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Saturday, September 9, 2017.  Born in Pasiano Di Pordenone, Italy. She was raised in Case Traffe, Italy. She came to Canada directly to Fort William in 1953. She committed herself to raising and caring for her family. Danila married Attilio in 1953 in St. Dominic’s Church (East End).

She had a great fondness for gardening and enjoying, in particular, many of her nurtured home grown flowers. The Italian community, friends in the larger community, St. Dominic’s Church and St. Peter’s Church were a constant source of enjoyment and friendship. Danila experienced great pleasure, comfort and satisfaction engaging in the lives of her four grandchildren. Cooking alongside a grandchild was an event which brought humour, traditional Italian mentoring and good food.  Danila is survived by her loving family, sons Enzo (Florence) Rubert, Thunder Bay and Henry (Debra) Rubert, Calgary, Alberta, grandchildren Nicole Rubert, Thunder Bay, Taegan, Daniel Rubert, Calgary, Alberta and Taylor Rubert, Toronto, Ontario, brother Danilo Marson of Italy, sister-in-law Theresa Marson of Italy. Predeceased by her husband Attilio, parents Marcellino and Angela, and her brother Aidro.

Funeral Mass for Danila will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 am in St. Peter’s Church, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam.  Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Prayers will be offered on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm in St. Peter’s Church.  If friends desire, memorials to the Heart and Stroke would be appreciated.
