Darcy Turney

With heavy hearts the family of Darcy Turney announce after a year long battle with cancer their loved one passed away at home in his sleep..Darcy was born December 20, 1938 in Beardmore, ON to Wesley Turney and Mary Turney.  He was a brother to Melba and Noelle.  In Thunder Bay, Darcy was employed as a Draftsman for the Ministry of Transportation.   On July 17, 1971 he married Mary Marczak and welcomed one son, Derek in 1976.  Darcy was an avid fan of the Leafs and Blue Jays.  He was dedicated to watching his son Derek play hockey and baseball.  His weekends were often filled with working on his car.  Darcy was a kind-hearted man with a quirky sense of humour and a devoted family man. Darcy is survived by his son Derek Turney, his sisters Melba Craven (Dave) and Noelle, his sister’s in-law Anna Brien and Irene Bruce (Don), his nephews Frank Marczak, Dan Brien (Trina), Shaun Brien (Joanne), Tim Bruce, and his niece Kaitlyn Bruce.  He is also survived by great-nephews and nieces.Darcy is preceded by his wife Mary Turney (2009), his parents Wesley and Mary Turney, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Bernice Marczak and Frank Marczak, and his sister-in-law Janeen Marczak.

Don’t be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again.  And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday April 15 at the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Joyce Yanishewski officiating. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

Darcy Turney will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
