Darlene Coultis, loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, passed away June 27, 2019 after a brief but hard fought battle with cancer. She was 69 years old.

Darlene was born in Orillia, ON, on October 4, 1949. Her family eventually relocated to Thunder Bay where she was raised by her Mom along with her Sister Alixa. After a few years of travelling, relocating and many other adventures with her friends, she settled back in Thunder Bay with her family where she raised her own children, Tracey and Shawn. She ventured through many occupations but her proudest moments were when she worked for the Canadian Coast Guard as a Cook Steward. She later graduated from Confederation College with a diploma in Office Administration.

She enjoyed early morning and late night conversations with her friends and family. She also enjoyed going to bingo with her bingo buddies, faithfully watching the Blue Jays games and enthusiastically cheering the Leafs with her baby Gizmo by her side, always having high hopes of them taking the cup! Out of all her life’s enjoyments, she most fondly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether it was for special occasions or simply hanging out on a Sunday afternoon.

Darlene will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Tracey (Rick), son Shawn, her grandchildren Dylan (Amy), Brittany (Liam), Cali, Mina, Quin and her beloved Gizmo. Darlene was also a loving aunt to Randy (Shelley), Mila and Ethan. She will also be truly missed by all her good friends that were always by her side.

She was predeceased by her mother Verna McNeil in 1975, her father Roy McNeil in 1999, her sister Alixa McNeil in 2015 and her nephew Michael McNeil in 2018.

Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of Life for Darlene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Moose Hall, 434 Fort William Road.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Darlene’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
