<p> David James Gordon, age 56, a resident of Thunder Bay, peacefully passed away at St. Joseph&rsquo;s Hospital on Oct 3, 2011 with family by his side.<br /> <br /> David was born in Chilliwack, BC (CFB) on Nov.14, 1954 as his father was an Engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces.&nbsp;His family was then stationed at Werl, Germany where David and his family lived for 2 years.&nbsp; They were then stationed at CFB Petawawa, ON for 8 years until his father retired the armed forces where they moved back to Port Arthur in 1966, where his parents were raised.<br /> <br /> While in Port Arthur/Thunder Bay, David attended Prospect School and Hillcrest High School where he graduated from Grade 12.&nbsp; He was then employed by Canada Car as an Electrician and CP Rail in various positions.&nbsp;David attended Confederation College where he graduated with an Electronics Technician degree.&nbsp; He then opened and operated his own small TV repair shop.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> At the age of 40, (as his grandma Truesdale did), David decided to enroll in the Registered Nursing Program at Lakehead University where he was honored with making the Dean&rsquo;s List twice.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> After graduating with his nursing degree, David worked at the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital (as grandma did) and St. Joseph&rsquo;s Care Group for many years creating many very close and valued relationships with both clients and coworkers alike.<br /> <br /> Looking for yet another challenge, and yet another of his dreams to quench his entrepreneurial spirit, David founded Abacus Computer Solutions in 2001 opening a small shop on Simpson St. working his way up to purchasing a large building on Cumberland St. where he enjoyed many, many years as a trusted Computer Technician and salesman.<br /> <br /> Many an evening after a long day, you could find David and Evelyn at Robin&rsquo;s donuts with their many friends just having a chat and a laugh or trying to solve the latest crossword puzzle, making it a team effort.<br /> <br /> David loved boating and flying remote-controlled airplanes and helicopters, a hobby nurtured from youth (of which he crashed a few).&nbsp; He was also very proficient at renovating houses, a jack of all trades so to speak.&nbsp; David also possessed a great sense of humor and many a joke he used to tell.<br /> <br /> As a loving father and husband and one who enjoyed life and work to the fullest, David will be lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn, son Shawn, daughters Chantel and Melissa, grandchildren Taylor and Lilly; brothers Gary (Lois) (Nova Scotia), Terry (Donna) (Okotoks, AB), Kevin (Thunder Bay) and sister Wendy (Rod Horychuk) (Sorrento, BC).&nbsp; David will also be lovingly remembered by extended family Rachel, Joyce and Samantha along with pets Abby and Nova.&nbsp; Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.<br /> <br /> David was predeceased by his grandparents, (Gordon), (Truesdale), father Jackson, mother Iris, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his cherished pet Bubbles.<br /> <br /> Cremation has taken place and Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David&rsquo;s memory to a charity of your choice.<br /> <br /> During the last trying times that beset David, he enjoyed the company of many family members, friends and fellow nurses.&nbsp; He appreciated all.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Thank you.<br /> <br /> Online condolences may be offered at <a href="http://www.harbourviewfuneral.ca" target="_blank">www.harbourviewfuneral.ca</a><br /> &nbsp;</p>
