It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of David Zywina, age 60.

The oldest of three, Dave was born in Thunder Bay and lived in many different places; such as Kingston and Geraldton, before settling back in Thunder Bay. Dave had a long career working construction and was a jack-of-all-trades, he had an arsenal of knowledge and experience under his belt.

To friends and family, Dave was the most reliable and honest person they could have ever known. He was the kind of person that you could call at any hour of the night and he would be there. Dave often said, “your word is the only thing that you’ve got, so use it wisely.” He had a work ethic like no other and he did everything that he could to provide for his children and family. Despite facing debilitating pain and discomfort due to health issues, Dave was in good spirits and was always cracking jokes and playing pranks on his family and coworkers.

Most importantly, Dave was a proud father to his children Zach and Nadia. He cherished all of his children’s accomplishments and provided them with countless wisdom.

Dave is survived by his mother Lorina, son Zach (Ally), daughter Nadia, siblings Rob (Lillie) and John (Michelle) as well his niece Casey. Dave is survived by his closest friends and chosen family Donovan and Sherri as well as the Peter’s and Daniel’s family. Additionally, he was graciously accepted into the family of Wendy Barscello and her daughters, Sharie (Brian), Laura and Trina (Nick).

Dave will be met up above by his Grandmother Agnes Mathewson, as well as many cousins and uncles.

A celebration of Dave’s life will take place at Current River Rec Center on March 24th from 1-3 p.m.
