Dennis was born on November 15, 1937 in Fort Frances to George and Blanche Cain, the third of eight children. Dennis grew up in Fort Frances where he met and married Lois Ogden on September 15, 1956. Together they raised a family of five children and had many years of love, joy and cherished memories.

In 1973, the family returned to Canada, lived in Manitouwadge for one year and then settled in Thunder Bay in 1974 at which time Dennis started working at the mine in Shebandowan from which he retired at the age of 67.

Dennis took great pride in his family and especially loved gatherings with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt with his family and his good friend Tony. Dennis always enjoyed dancing and after losing his wife Lois in 1997, he met his second love, Marguerite (Marge) Dampier on the dance floor. After which they enjoyed many years of dancing, travelling, camping and fishing.
