It is with broken hearts that the family of Derek Joseph Fogolin, age 34, announce his passing on March 31, 2015, at the TBRHSC after a short illness.
Derek, our pride and joy, was born on Oct. 3, 1980 in Thunder Bay. After graduation, Derek worked at the Monty Parks Centre, making dog biscuits for the K9 Delights Dog Bakery with all of his friends that he so loved. He had a full and active life. Horse back riding, swimming, kayaking, fishing, movies and shopping at the mall.
He had a passion for bowling with his friends at Special Olympics, music and going to hockey games. Derek was an accomplished painter, having his art exhibited in two art shows.
He enjoyed life to the fullest, loved everyone he met, and was well known for his beautiful smile, infectious laugh and his sense of humour. Derek loved his parents, family, God and his dog, Roxie, with all of his heart. He was the perfect son, and brought so much love and joy to us.
Derek is lovingly survived by his parents, Mary Ann and Larry, Grandfather Batista Fogolin, Uncles and Aunts; Cheryl Wright, Ken and Vickie Wright, Shirley and Michael Harris, Glenn and Karen Fogolin, Maureen and Gordon Clarbrough. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by Grandparents Kathleen and Stephen Wright, Joanna Fogolin, and Uncle Don Wright.
A special thank you to family and friends for all of your love, prayers and support. We love you. Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit, you are all heroes.
A private family funeral Mass will take place. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Derek's name to Wesway or Community Living Thunder Bay. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street.
