It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Devin Edward Ball, age 28, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Devin was born on June 27, 1992 in Fort Frances, Ontario and lived with his family in Devlin until he graduated from Fort Frances High School in 2010.

For the past 8 years, Devin worked for Wajax Power Systems in the Thunder Bay District as a Power Generator Technician. Many of his coworkers became very close friends.

Devin loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family, friends, and faithful dog Marley. He especially loved being out at the family camp on McLeish Lake. For Devin, there was nothing better than sitting around a campfire with his loved ones.

Devin had many lifelong friends and was truly loved by all for his easy going nature, zest for life, and willingness to help anyone in need. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour. Devin found happiness in making others smile and feel loved. He lived life to the fullest and made a lasting impression on everyone that he met.

Devin is survived by his Mother Laurie Ball (Thieling), Father Darren Ball, Sister Rachel Ball, Brother-in-Law Dexter Hunsperger, and Best Friend Marley. He is also survived by his Grandmother Julie Sherlock, Grandfather Jerry Thieling, Aunt Tracy Apperly (Ball), Uncle Jerry Apperly, Aunt Terry David (Ball), Uncle Bob David, Aunt Lana Affolter (Thieling), Cousins Zacharias, Esebra, Gabrielle and Natasha Affolter, Aunt Stephanie Sherlock, Cousins Sevyn Sherlock, Keny Mote, Jaxson and Ryder Chappus and several great aunts and uncles.

Devin was predeceased by his Grandfather Edward (Ted) Ball, Grandmother Lorraine Ball (Hedman), and Step Grandmother Laverne Thieling (Rengo-Bustrom).

Following cremation, a celebration of Devin’s Life will be held at the Harborview Funeral Centre presided by Pastor Ed Long on Friday, December 18, 2020 with a private ‘invitation only’ service due to COVID -19 guidelines.

Donations may be made in Devin’s memory to a local charity of choice.

“Devin, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here. Fish on forever Dev!”
