It is with broken hearts that the family of Dino Fiorido announce his passing at the age of 86 in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 with his family by his side.

Dino was born in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy on April 19, 1935, the son of Giovanni and Caterina Fiorido. In 1957 he came to Canada to find a better life and settled in what is now Thunder Bay. He worked with concrete and tile for many years, he also worked with Zanette Construction before joining the Lakehead Public School Board as a custodian. In 1958 he met the love of his life, Rita Gabriele, and the two were married in 1959. Years later came his pride and joy his daughter, Giovanna. Dino loved being in nature, whether it be hunting and fishing, feeding the deer at Mission Island or working in his garden. His greatest joy came in time spent with family, including beloved granddog Lily, and dear friends, with special memories of the picnics at Boulevard Lake in years past. He was a man who had a happy disposition and was always available to lend a hand to others in need. Dino was a member of the Principe Di Piemonte, the Italian Society of Port Arthur and the Alpini Club of Thunder Bay.

He will be lovingly remembered by Rita, his wife of 62 years, daughter Giovanna (Stacy Rescigno) Fiorido, 2 sister and 1 brother in Italy as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents and by 1 brother and 1 sister in Italy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 when family and friends will gather in St. Dominic’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Michael Mahoney.
