Domenica Mancuso
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Domenica Mancuso announces her passing on August 4th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Domenica was born January 6, 1933 in Scilla, Calabria, Italy. She immigrated to Canada with her husband Carmelo and their four children in 1971. In Thunder Bay, Domenica was reunited with her parents and her siblings. Domenica was an extremely hard-working woman. She worked as a seamstress at Woods Tent and Awning and later on, as a cook at the Italian Hall. Her joy of cooking was enjoyed by many people who frequented the famous lunch buffet, spaghetti suppers and receptions.

Domenica was a dedicated wife, mother and nonna. She lovingly prepared meals for her family. Her homemade bread was extraordinary and baked to perfection. Domenica was passionate about her vegetable garden and making preserves. Her home was a welcoming gathering place for family and friends.

Domenica always had a warm hearted smile and tender words of affection for everyone with whom she interacted. She will be deeply missed, but always remembered by her devoted children: Domenic (Nancy), Giovanna (Leonardo), Rocco (Debbie), and Grace (Jim). Nonna will be missed by her adoring grandchildren: Paolo (Emily), Carmelo (Sheri), Antonio (Agnes), David (Shannon), James (Courtney), Domenica (Lundy), Carmen, Angelia, Niko, Francesca, and step grandchildren, Steven and Jason. Domenica was blessed with eight beautiful great grandchildren. She will be missed by Leonardo, Angelica, Alessio, Bianca, Maddox, Nathan, Liam and Olivia. Domenica is also survived by her siblings: Clemente (Angela), Angelina (Italy), Pina (Alex), Tony (Vincenza) and sisters-in-law Rosa and Felicia. Zia Domenica was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Domenica was predeceased by her husband Carmelo, her parents Domenico and Grazia Vita, brother Giovanni Vita, brother Rocco Vita, niece Grace Vita (Bylund), nephew Rocco Vita and nephew Michael Vita.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 9:30 a.m. to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for the Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Rev.
