Mr. Donald C. Strickland, age 77 years passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Don was born on December 21, 1946 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to parents Thomas and Theresa Strickland.
Donald worked as a Professional Engineer and a Protection and Control Supervisor with Ontario Hydro and retired 2001.
Don was an avid reader. In his younger years, he loved hunting, fishing, sailing, canoeing, and camping. In the evenings he loved playing cards, especially crib, euchre and bridge.
Donald was a kindhearted man who always loved company, especially when it was his grandchildren. Most recently, Don cherished his movie date nights with Julie.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his partner Julie Lawrence, sons Shane (Nadia) Strickland, Michael (Barb) Strickland, stepdaughter Melody (Jasson) Lawrence, his grandchildren Emma, Maeve, Noah, Adam and Joshua, brother Russell (Cassie) Strickland, brother Scott (Larry) Strickland and his many nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Theresa Strickland (nee Clarke), sister Maria Theresa and brother Keltie Strickland.
A special thank you to the TBRHSC Emergency department staff and paramedics for their heroic efforts to save Don.
Cremation has taken place and a private viewing service was held.
