Donald Corbett, 93 years of age, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022, at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Don was the youngest of nine siblings born to Helen and Thomas Corbett. He was raised in Scoble Township and later moved to Fort William where he met the love of his life and future wife, Elaine Young, on Heron Street. Don and Elaine were married in 1947 and shared nearly 67 years together until Elaine’s passing in 2014. Together they raised three children, Bruce, Greg and Maureen.

Don will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his generosity, and being a family man. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always had a smile on his face and never complained. In his younger years, he loved camping, fishing, and traveling across Canada and the United States.
Don was proud to have worked for the Fort William Fire Department. He was highly respected and well known as Corbie. He made friendships that lasted a lifetime. After 32 years of service, he retired in 1988 as Platoon Chief.

Don will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Bruce, Greg (Nancy), and Maureen Daniels; grandchildren Jason (Jamie) Corbett, Lisa (Brent) Massaro, Diana (Travis) Kraag, Laura Daniels, and Lindsay (Tyler) McCoy; great-grandchildren Hannah Keegan & Jude Corbett, Max & Sienna Massaro, Zoey & Bowen Kraag, David Irvine, Ella & Colby McCoy.

We would like to thank the staff of HRM for their professional care and compassion during Don’s time there.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre. Should friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Don’s memory to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
