It is with great sorrow and regret to announce that my husband and best friend, Donald ‘Don’ Georgeson passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the age of 82, in St. Joseph’s Hospice with me by his side. Don was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2020 and the last few years have not been easy for him.

Don was born in Emo, Ontario on June 15, 1940 and in 1956, he moved to Atikokan. In 1968, Don married the love of his life, Bev Scott. We had just celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary.

Don worked for Firestone in Atikokan and transferred to Thunder Bay in 1979, when the mines closed. He continued to work for Firestone until 1986. He then began working at Canadian Tire, where he spent 19 years before retiring in 2005 at the age of 65.

In his spare time, Don spent time at Fit4Less where he made many friends. He was so friendly and enjoyed having a laugh with those he was close to. He liked to talk about the latest NASCAR Races, especially if a certain team didn’t win.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bev; sister-in-law Dorothy; brothers Ivan (Janette), Wendell (Shirley), and John (Karen). He is also survived by his special niece Barb and many other extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Jeanne, parents-in-law Wallace and Florence Scott, brother-in-law John Tyndall, and nephew Scott Tyndall.

As per Don’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and he will be interred in the Atikokan Columbarium at a later date.

I would like to thank all of the Staff at St. Joe’s - 4 North and especially Dr. Kevin Miller and nurse Sherri. Your guidance in the last few years has been greatly appreciated. As well as in the last few months, thank you for just being a friend to both of us. To our family and friends, thank you for all of the calls and visits to Don during his stay at St. Joe’s.

Donations in memory of Don may be made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation - Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Ave, Thunder Bay.
