Donald Nordstrom

Posted

Lifelong resident of Kakabeka Falls, Donald Gustave Nordstrom passed away following an unexpectedly short battle with cancer on March 31, 2017.

Donald's optimistic nature, quiet presence and welcome smile will be sadly missed by sister Ina (Robert) Johansson and her family, brother Bruce (Doris) Nordstrom and his family, sister-in-law Eda Nordstrom and her family, as well as cousins Vernon Bruce, Tom Maclean and Erwyn Bruce. Many other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, good friends and acquaintances are also saddened by Donald's untimely passing. Predeceased by brother Fred, step-father Gus, mother Janet, and shortly after his birth, father Fred.

Donald grew up knowing difficulty, hard work and lived his life ready to lend a hand, offer a supportive word or two, and always, quietly, and often not with any words, remind us of the importance of family. Donald enjoyed family gatherings and visits, travelling with Vernon or Tommy, having coffee or a beer with a friend, watching stock car races or maybe a football game on TV.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Kakabeka Legion on Saturday April 8 at 1:00pm to share their stories and memories of Donald, Uncle Donald or just Don. As per Donald's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment in the Conmee Cemetery will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to please make a donation to the Thunder Bay unit of the Canadian Cancer Society (807) 344-5433 or The Northern Cancer Fund, c/o Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation 980 Oliver Road, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 6V4 Canada

Tho' you're tired and weary

Still journey on, till you come to your happy abode,

Where all you love you've been dreaming of

Will be there, at the end of the road.
