Donna Christine Perkins

Miss Donna Christine Perkins, age 18 years, passed away peacefully after a struggle with leukemia on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Donna was born on May 18, 1992 in Thunder Bay and was raised and educated locally. She was currently a student in the Special Needs Program at Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. She loved her time spent with her family at Camp Quality, crossing off the dates on the calendar as it got closer. Due to her health she was unable to attend camp this year.

Donna was a social and engaging girl who made many friends with her outgoing and independent spirit. People gravitated towards her dynamic personality. Donna was also spiritual and very traditional in her aboriginal cultural beliefs, which include smudging and jingle dancing.

Donna was always willing to lend a hand when needed and was a very caring, nurturing and loving person and she could always rely on her family to support her. She had a special relationship with her father and was “Daddy's Girl”.

Donna is survived by her grandmother Nancy; brother Otis; sister Tiffany Longtimesquirrel; uncle Will (Elaine) and cousins Cheryl and Roxanne. Numerous other relatives also survive.

She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth Perkins (2004) and Donna Rose Longtimesquirrel (2000) and great grandparents Leonard and Lucy Bouchard.

Funeral services for the late Miss Donna Perkins will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Mr. Ron Kanutski officiating. Interment will take place in Gull Bay at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.

If friends so desire donations may be made to Camp Quality, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
